From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot was taking off from bauman farm strip (private) and a crosswind caused him to veer off the mowed strip and make a gradual arc through the wheat along the runway. The propeller cut the wheat and caused a milky substance to cover the windshield. The pilot continued the take off gradually coming back to the cut runway and continued on to Walla Walla, WA. When he turned into the sun his forward visibility was nil. He continued on and landed at alw. Due to poor visibility he misjudged the turn from the active to the taxiway and caught a taxiway sign with his left main gear causing the propeller to hit the sign. Aircraft engine is to be torn down as per Lycoming airworthiness directive regarding a prop strike.
