From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot of N7690E was executing his fourth touch and go landing on runway 36 at the Carmi, Illinois airport when he failed to maintain positive control of the aircraft which subsequently exited the runway approximately 1,000 feet from the approach end of that runway. As the aircraft exited the runway, the pilot applied full throttle and the aircraft became airborne but the pilot reports that the aircraft failed to climb away prior to contacting the ground a second time and came to a rest in a drainage ditch approximately 700 feet east of the runway and facing south. No injuries were sustained during this event and the aircraft received substantial damage.
