From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On a cross country flight at 6500 feet from Texas to chadron, Nebraska, the aircraft experienced a loss of power. While making an attempt to make the Alliance municipal airport, the pilot decided it was not safe and made an emergency landing on Nebraska highway 2 south of Alliance. After draining the fuel strainer, the pilot with the aid of a Nebraska state trooper departed on the highway and landed at Alliance municipal airport. The pilot hired a mechanic to inspect the fuel system however no anomalies were found. The pilot departed and landed at chadron municipal airport with no defects. The pilot had a mechanic inspect and break down the fuel system and the debris was in the carburetor bowl. The bowl and strainer were cleaned and the aircraft was flown around the pattern with no defects. The pilot stated he had come out to his aircraft last month and the fuel caps had been removed and fuel had been stolen from the tanks during the night. A wind storm ahd come up and he thought debris may have entered the tanks through the open caps.
