What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) Lear jet N55LF departed the ft. Lauderdale int'l. airport (fll) for a re-positioning FAR 91 VFR ferry flight to the ft. Lauderdale executive airport (fxe). The fxe tower cleared the aircraft to land on runway 31. The issued wind was 230 variable 300 at 25 gusts 35, heavy rain from the west eastbound. The runway was wet and had standing water on it, low lever wind shear advisories were in effect and a thunderstorm approaching. The aircraft reportedly landed 1500' down the 4000' runway. On landing the pilot reported that a heavy rain shower began falling at touchdown and after applying brakes and thrust reversers there was no braking action. He immediately began go-around procedures. It became apparent that the end of the runway was coming up and a takeoff was not possible on the remaining runway. The PIC aborted the takeoff and the aircraft departed off the end of the runway, crashed through a wire fence and came to a stop in a ditch approximately 856' from the end of the runway. The aircraft received substantial damage and there was no post aircraft fire. The SIC received only minor injuries.
