From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) While doing simulated single engine work in pattern at Rochester international airport (krst) pilots waited on gear until landing assured. Crew of two flight instructors became preoccupied with approach and failed to extend gear. Pilot on controls attempted to abort landing at last instant. Intent was to stay in ground effect and extend gear and then land on remaining length of runway 13 which is 7533 feet long. Chief flight instructor on board and giving the proficiency check declared that props had struck the runway and told pilot to chop power and land. Minor damage to props, flaps, fuselage bottom, and tail hold down ring sustained.
