From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot was interviewed by NTSB investigator, kurt anderson. Mr. Clements stated he departed runway 25 at Cle Elum municipal airport with 3 passengers. He noticed a tree line directly ahead and realized he was not going to clear the trees and increased the pitch attitude at which time the stall warning horn sounded. He maneuvered the aircraft thru an opening in the trees. The aircraft was still not climbing and at this point he banked left in an attempt to return to the airport. Being too low to see the runway at this point, he maneuvered the aircraft to an opening that would allow him to miss nearby houses. The known facts area: 1. There were 4 adults onboard the aircraft. 2. The aircraft fuel tanks were approximately half full. 3. The outside air temperature was 100 degrees f. 4. The pilot stated the a/c would not climb and the stall warning horn sounded almost the entire time prior to impact. 5. Weight & balance compounded with a density altitude consideration are of concern. 6. The pilot did not consider or calculate take-off performance prior to take-off. privacy data omitted
