From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Mr. Vedros stated that on August 12, 2004 at approximately 1250 local time, him and his wife departed marathon, Florida airport, heading to Tamiami Airport, to secure the aircraft in Tamiami, due to the threat of incoming hurricane charley in the area. Upon landing at Tamiami Airport runway 27 left, he encountered a strong gusty crosswind. He further stated, after 5 seconds of landing roll, aircraft swerved sharply to the left and rolled right striking the ground with the propeller and right wing tip contacted the ground. Aircraft continued and stopped on the grass off left side of runway, pilot and passenger were uninjured. Due to the right wing tip impact to the ground, the forward wing's spar and rib was damaged. The propeller also impacted the ground causing the tips to curl up. Therefore it is considered an accident.
