From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Instructor and student were performing soft field landings at winsted (K10D) airport. After students' second soft field take-off, an observer on ground came on the CTAF and told pilots something fell off the aircraft. After the part was retrieved, observer reported the nose wheel came off. Pilots noted left flap damage and elected to return to Flying Cloud (kfcm) airport with flaps still set in take-off position to perform emergency landing. Pilots coordinated a fly-by at kfcm tower so thunderbird maintenance could take a look. Maintenance reported it was the left hand main gear missing. Pilots circled north of field to allow emergency personnel to arrive. Pilot landed, remaining on runway 28R without incident, no fire, no injuries, minor damage to aircraft left hand flap, left hand landing gear lower torque link, and strut fairing.
