From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Instructor was training student pilot in straight in autorotations with power recovery. Maneuver was entered at 850 feet AGL and 70 KIAS. Glide appeared normal, airspeed 65 KIAS. A slight flare was initiated at 40 feet AGL and instructor rolled on throttle midway through flare. Low RPM audio was heard, instructor attempted to roll on more throttle, aircraft began to descend rapidly. Instructor lowered collective to recover RPM, leveled aircraft for touchdown. RPM would not recover and aircraft landed hard causing failure of landing gear, main frame around engine, warping of cockpit mainframe, and distortion of tail boom in the vicinity of the fuselage attaching points.

As the FAA filed it
