From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) privacy data omitted on September 29, 2004, at approximately 05:20 am local time, the pilot and sole occupant of N276PM, a CE-208 aircraft on a proposed flight from kdec to kuin, conducted a take off maneuver on runway 36 at the kdec airport which had been closed due to construction activities. The runway lights were off at the time of departure and lighted barricades had been erected approximately 300-400 feet from the approach end of the runway. Additionally, a NOTAM had been issued for the closure of the runway with fss and the asos/atis recording referenced the closed runway. The dec ATC tower was not operational at the time of this incident. As the aircraft accelerated down runway 36 at dec the pilot noted the barricades and maneuvered to avoid hitting those objects. The aircraft passed through the line of barricades, over the yellow x indicating a closed runway, and into a rut which had had been cut perpendicular to the runway direction. As a result of that collision, N276PM sustained substantial damage to the landing gear assembly, and propeller. The pilot received no injuries as a result of this event. This incident is closed with this report.
