From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The lear jet was parked, chocked and unoccupied. The citation was facing the lear head on, offset to the lear jet's right by half a wing span. The citation had received taxi clearance, released brakes and began to move forward in preparation for a turn to the right. The pilot reported that he discovered that he had no brakes when he attempted to use right brake for differential braking to initiate a right turn. He had the copilot try his brakes. The copilot stated he also had no brakes. Prior to striking the lear jet, the citation crew deployed thrust reversers to stop the forward movement. Before they could stop the citation wing struck the right wing tip tank of the lear jet. The citation crew did not attempt to stop the aircraft with pneumatic emergency brake. Maintenance personnel, in consultation with Cessna technical representatives, were unable to duplicate the problem. The brakes were found to operate normally, the aircraft was returned to service. The citation pilots were counseled on the importance of an early brake check and the use of the emergency brake.

As the FAA filed it
