From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) While on approach to mcn, pilot selected gear down, but only received "down" indicator for main gear. Nose gear indicated "unsafe." Pilot executed several maneuvers to extend nose gear, but was unsuccessful. Pilot elected to do several passes by control tower for visual on landing gear. Tower personnel reported nose gear appeared down. When pilot attempted landing on runway 23, nose gear did support aircraft, so a "go around" was executed. Subsequent passes by the tower indicated that the gear did not appear to be properly extended. Pilot elected to continue flying aircraft, so as to burn fuel and lighten aircraft for landing with nose gear unsafe. Pilot landed runway 31 safely. Damage to aircraft minor.

As the FAA filed it
