From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) A CE-182, N901JG, with two individuals on board, departed Montgomery field (myf). The pilot proceeded north, following the shoreline. He turned eastbound towards ramona (rmn) airport. He wanted to familiarize his passenger with landing gear operation. He cycled the gear down and then retracted it. Approximately 10 minutes later he attempted to lower the gear for final approach into rmn. The main gear deployed but the nose gear would not. Numerous attempts failed to deploy the gear. The pilot decided to return to myf. He contacted myf and made 5 more attempts to lower the gear. When these attempts failed he landed at myf. The aircraft sustained minor damage. No injuries reported. Investigation of the aircraft revealed that the nose gear door hinges exhibited abnormal wear. The aircraft is not due an annual inspection until April 2005.
