From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) After the pilot privacy data omitted started takeoff roll and the tail wheel just breaking ground, the aircraft banked slightly to the right. In the process of trying to level the wings the aircraft then veered to the left. The left wing struck a tree causing the aircraft to spin around and strike another tree with the right wing causing substantial damage. The pilot privacy data omitted was not experienced in a tailwheel aircraft and did not have an endorsement by a CFI to fly a tail wheel aircraft. The pilot privacy data omitted was not injured.
