From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) After takeoff from runway 06 at Patterson, LA. The aircraft veered to the left and initiated a roll to the left which was never recovered from. Aircraft struck the top of a tree that was across the street from the airport and came to rest in the front yard of a house. There was post impact fire that destroyed the aircraft and fatally injured the pilot. Post accident investigation showed that the fuel tanks were in the aux. Position and the left engine appeared not to be running at time of impact. There is an a.d., placards, and limitations in the flight manual that prohibit takeoff with the fuel valves in the aux tank position which could cause an interruption of fuel flow.
