From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Private pilot on solo cross country from ryn to inw and return. Weather was checked by pilot and instructor before takeoff. After landing at iaw pilot again checked weather and called his school dispatch and spoke to an instructor reference the weather. As per the instructor and private pilot weather conditions were VFR for the time and area of operation. Pilot departed inw, enroute the pilot contacted the prc fss flight watch for an update on weather. Pilot encountered unforecasted weather enroute and elected to land on a private paved airport (AZ51). During touchdown the pilot had excessive airspeed. Drifted off to the left of the runway left main gear sink down into the soft mud. Left main gear sheared off both wings impacted large boulders and cactus. Aircraft was destroyed. No additional causal factors at this time.
