From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) This incident involved a flight instructor and a student on a multiengine stage check for the university of Dubuque (GV8S). The aircraft was returning to the Dubuque, Iowa airport (dbq) for landing when the incident occurred. The aircraft was cleared to land by the tower and according to statements from the pilots the landing checklist was completed. Also a statement from the tower controller said the gear appeared to be down as the aircraft was on final approach. When the aircraft landed on runway 36 the gear was in the retracted position and the aircraft skidded to a stop. A gear retraction test was performed after the incident and the gear operated normally. However, during this retraction test it was discovered the gear warning system did not activate when the throttles were retarded below 14 inches of manifold pressure with the gear in the retracted position. privacy data omitted
