From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On 02-22-05 @ 0840 MDT, CFI privacy data omitted was training student privacy data omitted concerning autorotations in N780SH, a Robinson R22. The aircraft rolled out of a turn at approximately 150 ft AGL with airspeed of 80 KTS. And 102% rotor RPM. The a/c was commanded to flare at 50 ft AGL and experienced shutter, the aircraft continued descent. The CFI took the flight controls at this point and flared harder to decrease descent and forward airspeed to no avail. The CFI pulled the cyclic back harder with intent and the a/c developoed more shutter. Prior to ground contact the cyclic was pushed forward to level the a/c and the collective was applied to cushion the contact with the ground. The a/c bounced hard while traveling forward at approximately 60 KTS. As the aircraft bounced the CFI applied throttle and a/c control was regained. The a/c hovered for approximately 2 minutes before ultimate landing. The a/c was transported back to the provo, Utah airport via trailier. No injuries resulted from this accident. The tailcone was removed due to damage exceeding the limitations stated in the Robinson maintenance manual, paragraph 2.410-inspection procedures, item 9. Both skid assy are to be replaced.

As the FAA filed it

(-23) ON 02-22-05 @ 0840 MDT, CFI ^PRIVACY DATA OMI^ WAS TRAINING STUDENT ^PRIVACY DAT^ CONCERNING AUTOROTATIONS IN N780SH, A ROBINSON R22.
