From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot started aircraft (CE-172 N758LM) in parking/tie-down space (estimated 1,000 RPM idle) with wheels chocked by 2X4'S. Pilot stated parking brake was also set. Pilot exited running aircraft to get and stow bag. Aircraft jumped chocks and rolled approx. 100 feet in a right turn. As aircraft made approx. 90 degrees of turn from original position, struck horizontal stabilizer of parked CE-182 (N5996J), causing sudden stoppage of taxiing aircraft propeller and engine. No apparent airframe damage to CE-172. Parked 182 hor. Stabilizer destroyed left side and distended on right side and had fuselage skin wrinkling under tail area. Pilot received minor injuries (minor cuts and abrasions to hands and left knee) from being dragged by CE-172 while holding on to door post and being dragged.
