What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) The preparation for flight was routine; an extensive walk-around was done, checking fuel, tires, prop, airframe and antennas. The pilot took the seat for the flight. Clearance delivery was contacted and clearance was received. The engine was started and the aircraft began a slow left turn out of the parking space and onto the taxi area within the ramp parking area. After traveling approximately 50 feet the landing gear suddenly collapsed and the airplane dropped to the ground. The prop struck the ground bending all blades and stopping the engine. The forward speed of the airplane, at the time of the stoppage, was no more than the speed of a man walking. There were no injuries to either occupant and no one was on the ramp to witness the event. After shutting down the electrical system and exiting the airplane the pilot made a check for fuel leakage and then called the FBO for assistance.
