From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) N3870W, a BE-77 departed lago vista (5R3) heading to Austin bergstrom with two occupants, the pilot-in-command (PIC) and one passenger. The PIC reported they climbed to 2500 feet MSL and commenced cruise flight. At this time the engine RPM decreased by 100, then the engine began running rough. After a short period the engine quit altogether. The PIC made a forced landing on the barton creek resort golf course. The aircraft was destroyed by impact with a cedar tree and other brush as it was slowing to a stop. Both occupants evacuated the aircraft and were taken to a hospital for a check-up.
