From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Accident aircraft with two passengers on board was making a second attempt to land at Lawrence county airport, Chesapeake, Ohio. Weather was no factor as the pilot attempted his second approach to runway 26. A witness stated the aircraft landed long and fast on the second attempt and was observed to execute a go around. The aircraft was observed to climb above the trees with a nose high attitude then moments later roll off to the right and disappear. Within seconds smoke was observed from the area where the aircraft disappeared from view. Aircraft and pilot records were on board and destroyed in post crash fire.
