From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot elected to make his approach for landing at the Slidell Airport to an approved grass landing area which is located south of and along a line extending south of the parallel taxiway. The pilot stated his approach was somewhat faster than normal and that he touched down long in the landing area due to wind gusts occuring on final approach. The pilot stated that in his efforts to get the aircraft stopped, he believes the brakes locked up perhaps due to the grass being wet, resulting in a forward skid. The aircraft struck the end of the paved taxiway, became momentarily airborne and touched down again, swerving to the left and causing the right main landing gear pin to shear and the right main gear to collapse. The right wing also received minor damage when striking the ground.

As the FAA filed it
