From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On Monday, April 4, 2005 at 1310 local time, the pilot privacy data omitted was flying a Cessna 182, N625LS, at the Genesee County Airport (gvq) in Batavia, NY. At the time of the flight, the winds were 300 at 17, gusting to 28. During a practice ILS approach on runway 28, the pilot applied 10 degrees of flaps 1/2 mile out and nearing the runway, extended the flaps to 20 degrees. As the aircraft touched the runway, it porpoised up and down on the runway two times. In an attempt to keep the aircraft from porpoising, the pilot added power in an attempt to go around, but was unaware that the propellers had already hit the runway. There was insufficient power to the engine and when the pilot realized this, he pulled the throttle back as the aircraft veered off the runway and into the mud. As soon as the aircraft came to a stop, the pilot shut down the engine and all electrical equipment. There were no injuries. This incident is considered closed.
