What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) Upon landing the left hand main landing gear oleo attachment bracket broke at the flange radius allowing the gear assembly to rotate and causing the left main tires to skid sideways. The resultant drag caused the aircraft to veer left and depart the runway surface. When soft ground was encountered the nose landing gear attachment failed and caused substantial damage to the forward fuselage. Airworthiness directive 2002-02-11 requires inspection of the left and right main landing gear oleo attach brackets p/n NB-40-0075 every 500 hours or 1200 landings. The aircraft maintenance records indicate that this inspection was performed approximately 101 hours and 218 landing prior to the accident flight.
