From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft departed iso on a training flight with the instructor and commercial student on board. The flight was conducted in the traffic pattern of iso airport. On the sixth touchdown (a firm landing) power was applied and the aircraft lifted off the runway without incident. The landing gear unsafe light then illuminated and the left main "green" gear light went out. The tower informed the aircraft that it appeared the left main landing gear was not stowed but hanging. Low passes confirmed that the left main landing gear was broke off and appeared to be hanging by the brake line. The pilot elected to land the aircraft with the right main and nose gear extended (the left main gear was broke and hanging). The aircraft safely touched down and once the left wing touched the runway the aircraft exited the runway onto the grass median. Both the instructor and student safely egressed the aircraft with no injuries.

As the FAA filed it
