From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On April 17, 2005, at approximately 0710 local time, pilot in command, privacy data omitted operated Beech, BE-36-A36, N4311S, while executing an emergency landing just after takeoff from Brownwood airport, Texas. The pilot privacy data omitted said that the oil pressure gage indicated zero after first spiking to maximum value. Smoke and fumes entered the cabin as the pilot privacy data omitted guided N4311S to an empty field and touched down just before entering a tree line where the right wing was torn off at the root and approximately 3 feet of the outboard left wing was removed. The aircraft came to rest approximately 3 miles east of Brownwood airport facing 180 degrees from its direction of flight. No injuries were sustained by the pilot privacy data omitted or his two passengers. Investigation disclosed that no oil residue existed on the engine oil dipstick but was present in the engine compartment.
