From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot was flying near Dike, Iowa, when the engine began to run rough. The master electrical switch was turned "off" and the engine ran better but then quit altogether. In an attempt to land at a grass strip near Dike, Iowa, the pilot was high and fast and overshot the runway, hitting a fence at the end of the runway. The propeller was not rotating thus not causing the normal drag, and with the electric system off, the flaps could not be extended. This accounts for the long landing. This aircraft had an airworthiness certificate issued 1/24/05 and was amateur built. The pilot had no injuries.
