From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On 6/10/2005, N3057Z, a Piper aircraft model PA-28RT-201 aircraft departed from fresno CA, direct brown airfield (sdm) San Diego, CA. The pilot reported that on arrival at sdm the weather was marginal for landing, so he turned on a easterly heading looking for a place to land. Bad weather and low fuel convinced him that he needed to land immediately at a Private landing strip near manzanita, San Diego county. The pilot stated the landing gear could not extend so he landed gear up. The aircraft sustained minor damage, the pilot and passenger were not injured. The aircraft was lifted and placed on jacks on site. The gear was cycled up and down several times electrically and extended using the emergency extension procedure. No discrepancies were noted during his functional test. Fuel drained from the aircraft consisted of 13 gallons in the left wing tank, 10 gallons in the right wing tank.
