What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) Pilot was landing into a direct headwind of about 15 KTS. When the nose wheel touched the dry paved runway, the scissors arm component of the nose wheel strut assembly broke and the nose wheel chocked sideways, causing the aircraft to swerve to the left and forward enough to allow the propeller and right wing tip to make contact with the runway. Besides the failure of the nose strut scissors, the only other damage was to the propeller and minor damage to the tip of the wing, with enough damage to the outboard rib to require replacement. There was no damage to the aileron.
