From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft collided with trees shortly after takeoff from the peach state airport in Williamson, Georgia. The training flight was operated under visual flight rules and no flight plan was filed. Both pilots received fatal injuries and the airplane sustained substantial damage. According to witnesses, the airplane did a downwind landing on runway 13 and turned around and taxied back to the takeoff end of runway 13 and proceeded to takeoff downwind on an upward sloping runway. Witnesses stated that they believe the winds were at 310 to 290-degrees at 7 to 8 knots. Witnesses said the takeoff roll was long and almost the entire length of the 2800-foot runway was used by the aircraft before lifting off. Witnesses also stated the airplane did not want to climb. Witnesses stated it barely made it over a set of trees, they observed it sink behind another set of trees and heard a crash. Witnesses said they could hear the engine running the whole time.
