From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot was making what appeared to be an approach to runway 3 at Katama airpark in VFR conditions in accident aircraft, visibility was 10 miles or better. Aircraft on the ground was backtaxiing to take off on runway 3. Backtaxiing pilot made calls to inform other traffic of his intentions. He was answered by another pilot and informed that there were NORDO approaches in progress. He reached the end of runway 3 and runway 6 intersection and saw an aircraft on final for runway 3. The landing aircraft attempted to go around as the taxiing aircraft was attempting to clear the end of runway 3. N5118D began a go around but stalled the aircraft over the numbers of runway 6 at 75 feet altitude. Aircraft dropped vertically from 75 feet and crashed. Pilot of N5118D is in a coma. Recent pilot hours and training information aren't available.
