From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot received a weather briefing and filed IFR from hillsboro, OR (hio) to astoria, OR (ast). Upon leveling at 6000 feet in IMC conditions, the pilot thought his radios to be weakening. He glanced at the ammeter and it was showing a slight discharge. The autopilot failed and the pilot noted the attitude indicator flag and failing gyro. The radios could no longer transmit, a break in the clouds occurred in the vicinity of Scappoose, OR (spb) and the pilot made an emergency descent and found the Scappoose airport, manually lowered his gear and landed without further incident. The pilot relayed by phone to ATC that he had made a safe landing.
