From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Airman blacked out during cruise flight and entered an uncontrolled descent. Airman realized he was disoriented and deployed the ballistic recovery parachute system. Aircraft then drifted down to a water landing in a water basin at bowline pointe park adjacent to the hudson river in havrestraw, new york. Subsequent medical examinations, the airman was diagnosed with meningioma of the brain (tumor), which he was unaware of and may have caused the momentary seizure and blackout. Airman was sent a re-examination letter by the regional flight surgeon, eastern region. To rule out carbon monoxide poisoning, the heater muff assembly was retrieved and pressure tested on 07/05/2005 and determined to have no leakage.
