From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot was making a night takeoff from runway 20 at sgf when the engine suddenly failed at about 200' AGL. He elected to land straight ahead on the remaining runway, but did not have time to extend the landing gear. Minor damage was done to the airplane and propeller when it contacted the ground without the landing gear extended. There was fuel in all four fuel tanks and the engine has since been started and run with no problems. Incident privacy data omitted is closed.
