From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot was returning to the airport after towing a glider. The aircraft is equipped with a tow cable and tow ring that trails approximately 200 ft. behind and below the aircraft. A highway is located on the final approach course, the glider club has a procedure for the tow pilots to cross the runway threshold at a height of 200' AGL to ensure the tow cable and tow ring does not come in contact with a vehicle on the highway. However, in this case the pilot admitted to regularly crossing the threshold at 20 feet AGL while being aware of the club's procedures. On 07/30/2005 the pilot's aircraft tow cable and tow ring came in contact with a 1998 chevrolet blazer and caused damage to the vehicle.
