From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot was approaching kfws airport at 3500 feet MSL and had instructions from spinks tower to enter right base for runway 17. Pilot stated that the engine quit and he attempted to make a 360 degree turn to land on a street. Pilot stated that he simply ran out of altitude before he was able to maneuver the aircraft into a position to land on the street. A suitable grass field was available on both sides of the street for landing but the pilot stated that he was fixated on landing on the street. The aircraft struck a telephone junction box approximately 15 feet from the street and received substantial damage. The pilot who was the only occupant of the aircraft was not injured.
