From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) During an instructional flight in preparation for a multiengine instructor rating, privacy data omitted was giving instruction to the pilot privacy data omitted involving a simulated loss of one engine and a subsequent simulated single engine landing. The engine was failed at approximately 500 feet AGL on takeoff. The takeoff was continued and the aircraft entered the traffic pattern for a single engine landing. Both pilots state that they were engrossed in practice teaching and critiquing the events involved. As a result, they ignored the gear warning horn and did not use the checklist for the pattern. They both state that they simply neglected to lower the landing gear and were not aware of the condition until the actual touchdown.
