From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) At 1215 local time on 09/04/2005, a motor glider piloted by privacy data omitted attempted to take off from kelley air park. There were other aircraft in the traffic pattern and in his haste to accomodate the traffic, the pilot privacy data omitted neglected to lock the dive brakes in the stowed position. The glider reached takeoff speed, and lifted off to an altitude of approximately 20 feet before it began to lose altitude. N25WD hit the runway on the main gear, bouncing back into the air before the throttle was reduced to idle. This caused the glider to bounce into the air, and the pilot applied forward stick to prevent stall. At this point the glider descended rapidly, striking the runway hard enough to collapse the main gear. As the plane skidded off the right side of runway 17, it began a ground loop to the right turning approximately 120 degrees before coming to a complete stop. The pilot sustained no injury and the aircraft was removed to an adjoining hangar for storage and repairs.

As the FAA filed it

(-23) AT 1215 LOCAL TIME ON 09/04/2005, A MOTOR GLIDER PILOTED BY ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ ATTEMPTED TO TAKE OFF FROM KELLEY AIR PARK. THERE WERE OTHER AIRCRAFT IN THE TRAFFIC PATTERN AND IN HIS HASTE TO ACCOMODATE THE TRAFFIC, THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ NEGLECTED TO LOCK THE DIVE BRAKES IN THE STOWED POSITION.
