From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot planned a VFR flight from redding, CA (rdd) to hillsboro, OR (hio) in a Cessna 152. Total distance (303NM). Pilot reported an engine failure to seattle center and they provided vectors to the Eugene airport. Pilot flew to a point south of the field and did not compensate for the effect of the northerly wind and landed short of runway 34R in a grass field with no damage to aircraft or injuries to the pilot (sole occupant of aircraft). Maintenance personnel from flightcraft (FBO), located on the Eugene airport inspected the aircraft and found both fuel tanks dry of fuel and no visible damage to the aircraft. 16 gallons of 100LL fuel was added to the tanks. The IA performed a flight and engine control check of the aircraft and started the engine, which ran normally through all ranges, responding to carb heat and mixture adjustment changes properly.
