From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot of Bellanca N7338V was going to make local flight to check the radio. Owner/pilot stated he did not check for NOTAMS at local airport. Pilot stated he was starting to take off on runway 32 at the Hastings Municipal Airport, Hastings, Nebraska (HSI). From the displaced threshold of the runway, he did not see the yellow "x" indicating the runway was closed. Pilot stated when he did see the markings he could not stop in time. The markings were held in place by bricks, to prevent the wind from blowing the markers out of place. The pilot stated he hit a brick with the nose wheel tire, causing the tire to blow out. Damage was also to the nose wheel trim.
