From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

(-23) The pilot reported the visibility as less than anticipated due to scattered clouds in the vicinity. He stated that after several passes had been executed to identify the grass runway, he became distracted and veered off the approach path of the runway. The aircraft hit the top of some trees off the side of the runway. The engine and fuselage were impacted, and the aircraft landed inverted with aircraft parts scattered in an approximate 30 to 40 foot radius.
