From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot stated he encountered unexplained engine roughness while conducting a flight as a sport pilot. While subsequently flying toward a runway that would appropriately accomodate a precautionary landing, the engine of the aircraft quit completely. The pilot privacy data omitted began an approach to a suitable road so as to conduct an emergency landing. The aircraft hit previously unseen telephone wires just before reaching the touchdown point on the road. The aircraft subsequently crashed, but without injuring the pilot. The reason for the engine failure is still under investigation by the NTSB at the time of this report. The submission of a malfunction or defect report by the salvage company was requested.
