What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) Pilot landed the aircraft, pilot felt aircraft pull to the left, pilot could not correct for left hand pull, tried to take off by going to full power, aircraft pulled harder to the left, went onto grass, impacted a landing light and airport boundary fence. There are no skid marks, plow marks or any indication that wheels were not turning or brakes were locked, tires had no flat spots and turned freely on investigation. Brakes, wheels and tires looked normal. Aircraft placed on jacks and found the nose gear steering push pull tube on the right hand side sheared at the safety wire hole. Left hand steering push pull tube wrapped around the landing gear steering collar. Parts sent to NTSB for evaluation.
