From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot attempted an uphill takeoff on a 1,950 foot long runway. Pilot indicated to NTSB that airplane had been contaminated by frost but he had polished the upper wing surfaces smooth with a broom prior to takeoff. The airplane failed to climb sufficiently to avoid impacting vegetation at the end of the runway. Damage to wings, fuselage, and engine was sustained. Attempts to contact the pilot by telephone have been unsuccessful. This report will be amended when we have interviewed the pilot. (-23 amendment) the pilot attempted a calm wind, uphill, takeoff on a 1,950 foot long runway in an aircraft loaded close to max gross takeoff weight. The incline was slight and there was no wind. The pilot stated that the airplane had been contaminated by frost but he had polished the upper wing surfaces smooth with a broom prior to takeoff. The airplane flew in ground effect but failed to climb sufficiently to avoid impacting vegetation at the end of the runway. Damage to wings, fuselage, and engine was sustained.

As the FAA filed it
