From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot privacy data omitted landed BE-23, N24584, at Whiteside county airport, rock falls, Illinois, after manually extending the landing gear subsequent to its failure to lower automatically. The landing was made without incident. The pilot reset the landing gear system for normal operation, but failed to set the landing gear lever in the down position (it was not required to be in the down position in order to manually lower the landing gear). Thereby, the landing gear lever was in the up position for takeoff. During the takeoff roll the nose wheel retracted causing a propeller strike and an aborted takeoff. The airplane dragged to a stop on its lower engine cowling and sustained minor damage in so doing. No personal injury resulted.
