From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Piper cherokee, PA-28-180, N3425R crashed on 11/20/2005 near the clermont county airport. The pilot suffered minor injuries and the aircraft had substantial damage. The pilot reported that he had switched from the left to the right fuel tank during the flight prior to returning to clermont county. The pilot reported that the engine failed during the turn towards runway 22 at clermont county. An attempted restart failed and he chose to land in a field.
