What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) PIC reported just before landing at 78N he realized he was a little high and decided to go around. But when he tried to release 10 degrees of flap it would not work. With half runway left he decided to go ahead and land. He made a hard landing and the nose wheel collapsed. Pilot acknowledged to inspector at the site that the rubber handle over the flap handle slid up over the button that releases the flaps, therefore causing the PIC not to operate the flaps. Aircraft suffered damage to the nose gear minor damage to engine cowling and prop strike damage.
