From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Midwest airlines, flight 210, aircraft N924ME, Boeing B-717-200, departed Boston, MA at 1941 EST, 12/20/05 runway 22R. Boston ATC observed sparks coming from the rear of the aircraft. The pilot indicated a problem with the right main gear and gear door in the retract (gear up) position. The aircraft circled for about an hour and a half to burn off fuel. The pilot indicated 3 green in the extended (gear down) position. The aircraft landed on runway 33L without incident at 2153 EST, 12/20/05. The aircraft was then towed to the gate. Preliminary investigation revealed the right outboard #4 main wheel outboard bearing failed. The investigation revealed that the wheel and bearing assembly had not been changed or removed since aircraft delivery from Boeing on 10/25/05. Wheel and bearing assembly had 425 hours and 233 cycles since new. Midwest maintenance removed and replaced the right main gear strut piston assembly and two main wheel and tire assemblies on 12/22/05. The right main landing gear outboard brake assembly was also replaced. The cause of the wheel bearing failure is still under investigation by the midwest cmo and Boeing aircraft.

As the FAA filed it
