From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot was departing air Square airport (TS63) heading 360, upon climb out witness stated that the aircraft began banking to the west (left) then suddenly snap rolled to the right and went into a stall. The aircraft crashed into a heavily treed field about 2000 yards north of the end of the take off strip. The aircraft came to rest inverted in the trees and immediately burst into flames. The pilot reported that he was able to release his safety harness and fell to the ground underneath the burning aircraft and crawled to safety about 30 feet away. The pilot also reported he suffered minor injury to his left side due to falling from the aircraft. He was taken to a local hospital by friends in the area where he was treated and released the night of the accident.
